Functional description

The 900 series of turbine flowmeters is a cost-efficient and performance-optimized range that enables precise flow measurements across six different flow ranges from 0.05 to 15 L/min. Its excellent chemical resistance, including suitability for ultra-pure water, is due to the careful selection of wetted components. The flowmeter body is available in either PVDF or 316 stainless steel, and the standard O-ring seal is made of Viton®, with other sealing materials also available.
The 900 series uses a radially driven turbine based on the Pelton wheel principle. In this design, a jet of fluid is directed at a turbine mounted on robust, low-friction sapphire bearings. These bearings ensure the flowmeter’s long life and reliability. The geometry of the turbine and the fluid chamber ensures that the rotational speed of the rotor is proportional to the flow rate. This radial arrangement imparts more energy to the turbine, minimizing the impact of bearing drag and allowing the use of stronger, more durable bearings.
The standard process connections for the 900 series are ¼” BSPF, with optional ¼” NPTF connections. Typical applications for the 900 series include laboratory tests, cooling systems, active flow alarms, semiconductor plants, and OEM applications.
