Ultrasonic flow measurement with maximum precision thanks to “time-of-flight” technology

The core of ultrasonic flow measurement is Time-of-Flight technology. It is based on the precise measurement of the transit time of ultrasonic waves that are sent in and against the direction of flow through the measured medium. The transit time difference is directly proportional to the flow velocity.

Advantages of the “Time-of-Flight” technology:

  • High measuring accuracy and reproducibility: The precise time measurement in the nanosecond range achieves high measuring accuracy and reproducibility, even under fluctuating flow conditions.
  • Resistant to pressure shocks, vibrations, and contaminants: The non-contact measurement makes the sensors insensitive to pressure shocks, vibrations and dirt particles in the medium.
  • Independence from medium properties: As the measurement is based on the transit time of the ultrasonic waves, it is independent of the properties of the medium such as viscosity, density and conductivity.
